Let's face it, Matt's Rancho Martinez begins with Matt. Matt Martinez, Jr. to be exact.

Matt is an institution to many of us in Lakewood. He is a fourth-generation chef whose classic Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes have fed several generations of Lakewood residents.

In the 1980s, following in the footsteps of his paternal grandparents, Matt and his wife Estella opened two restaurants in Dallas, including Lakewood's Matt's Rancho Martinez. The crowds have never stopped coming.

Matt has written books, developed a line of specialty seasonings and finishing sauces, cooked for both President Bushes, and catered hundreds of events, small and large, casual and fancy.

There's no place better to meet your neighbors, relax with a cold one, and eat the best Tex-Mex food this side of the Rio Grande.

If you see Matt, introduce yourself. He's been your Lakewood neighbor for a long time now!
