Art Shows Abounding

A great deal of time and energy will go into this weekend's Texas-OU football game and all its trappings. Next weekend, though, the focus around White Rock Lake shifts to the arts.

Three arts-related events — a benefit, a studio tour, and a gallery opening — take place or debut the weekend of Oct. 12.

Fairefather, 10paint5, and Times Ten Cellars team up to present the fourth annual Chateau des Arts at the winery. The event — 7-11 p.m. Oct. 12, and 1-11 p.m. Oct. 13 — serves as a benefit for the North Texas Food Bank and Jonathan's Place.

Young artists involved in the KanvasKidz program of 10paint5 will present new backpacks to the Food Bank's Food4Kids backpack program on behalf of the Lakewood Elementary School first-grade class. The young artists also will debut 24 new works for sale and create new works live during the event.

Twenty local artists donated a work each to a silent auction, which opens at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 and closes at 9 p.m. Oct. 13. They will have original pieces for sale during the show.

VIP tickets cost $20 each and are available at Times Ten Cellars, and Willie and Coote Salon. Tickets include parking, wine ticket, food, and admission. General admission tickets cost $5.
