Alexis Ortiz and Marissa Jimenez hop off the bus ready to explore the Arboretum.
Not to long ago Lakewood Elementary had 4th grade students going on two fantastic field trips to the Dallas World Aquarium and the Dallas Arboretum.
Lakewood Elementary students loaded onto buses awaiting to be going to the Dallas Arboretum. The students were eager to see the exciting outdoor wonderland and hurried off of the bus. The students learned about Texas pioneer and Native American history and even got to plow and rake a field.
After learning a little Social Studies the students enjoyed all the other things the Arboretum had to offer. They toured the stunning gardens and were fascinated by the ponds and sculptures. They also experienced the fun of getting to roll down hills and just talking to each other. The students ran down an alley of trees and explored the frogs squirting water from the tip of their tongues.
The Dallas World Aquarium was a fascinating wonder of not only exotic fish but many, many different types of animals from monkeys to otters and alligators to a jaguar. As the students traveled from through the ''rain forest'' they saw many birds and even a toucan! Down below in the river pink flamingos were fluffing their feathers and giant fish swam down into the water. As they walked farther on you could see even more birds and an orange monkey! After walking down a ways we saw a sign that said "sloth crossing". You wouldn't find one of those just anywhere. They even walked through a shark tunnel!
4th grade went on some cool field trips this year and I bet you did also.
