Lake Comes Alive with Sound of Music

Turns out, Dallas has its own version of the Von Trapp Family.

Paul Landefeld and his family — wife, Lorraine Gaal-Landefeld, their two sons, Mark Landson and John Landefeld, and John's wife, Bo Landefeld — perform in the C.C. Young Music Matters Series at The Point, Center for Arts and Education.

The piano quintet concerts happen once a month at The Point, the new Arts and Education Center of C.C. Young Retirement Community. The series features an educational, fun, and free classical concert based on a theme created by Paul Landefeld.

I attended last Saturday's concert and enjoyed a program of music for the summer. The Landefelds played patriotic songs like John Philip Sousa's "Liberty Bell" — think the Monte Python's Flying Circus theme song — old sing-alongs like "In the Good Old Summertime," and classic wedding favorites such as Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" and Handel's "The Entrance of the Queen of Sheba."

At different times in the concert, the audience sang, clapped, and cut up with the Landefelds, while Paul provided relevant information and kept everyone in line.
