Northeast Crime Summit Convenes

Our friend in crime watch Mel Cyrak reminds us that the Northeast Operations Division of the Dallas Police Department conducts its quarterly crime summit meeting at 7 p.m. tonight.

The meeting takes place at the First Assembly of God.

Deputy Chief Jan Easterling, commander of the Northeast division, leads the meeting and gives an overview of area crime statistics and plans to combat specific offenses.

Lakewood residents have the opportunity to help shape enforcement strategies undertaken by officers assigned to the Northeast. The meeting breaks into separate sessions arranged by patrol sectors, during which citizens can voice their concerns and pinpoint trouble spots for the officers who patrol the neighborhood streets.

The summit also opens the opportunity for people to join various volunteer programs — crime watch, volunteers in patrol, volunteer response — coordinated by police and targeted at improving law enforcement in particular neighborhoods.
