
Yeah, so I guess Paris Hilton made the phrase "That's hot" all the rage — what, five years ago? — when adjectivizing a thing's or event's coolness quotient.
And advertising typically takes awhile to catch up to the latest in haute celebrity worship, and that, friends, is a classic oxymoron.
Now, take that alleged CQ, add it to the Weird Wide Web, where almost everything has to have a near-porn factor, and you get claptrap — now there's a lost word — like the ad [left] I saw the other day on the Excite main page.
Online college degrees are hot? Just how is that? The chick flailing away on the laptop, OK, maybe if there's a live Web-cam broadcast in progress, but the degree? Anyone?
