Jack Black's movie, "School of Rock," was based on the Paul Green School of Rock. The real deal is now in Dallas.
In a case of art imitating life, the movie "School of Rock" took its inspiration from the real thing —the Paul Green School of Rock out of Austin.
Now, the Green original has migrated northward and opened during June up shop just north of the neighborhood.
Students "learn to rock, not just play guitar," according to instructor Jude Martinez. They train in the finer points of musicianship as well as stage presence, and ultimately perform before hardcore rock fans in venues such as The Loft locally and CBGB nationally.
