The most recent dispatch from the Woodrow Wilson High School PTA included a great deal of information, some of which has been published before.
By way of timely reminder, incoming freshman have orientation from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 14 in the girls gym.
Summer reading for advanced placement needs to be wrapped up soon. Ninth-grader reading is Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird" and Rudolfo Anaya's "Bless Me, Ultima." "Night," by Elie Wiesel, and "Maus, Vol. 1," by Art Spiegelman, make up 10th grade assignments. Eleventh-graders get "The Great Gatsby," by F. Scott Fitzgerald and "Bright Lights, Big City," by Jay McInerney. "Confederacy of Dunces," by John Kennedy Toole, and Joseph Heller's "Catch-22" comprise the seniors' list.
On the parental front, the Woodrow PTA board meeting takes place at 7 p.m. Aug. 18 in the school library.
That is all ... for now.
