Granada throws an anniversary bash

Great bands. A smiling staff. Perfect sound and lighting. Just another night at the Granada.

Except that last night marked the fourth anniversary of this venerable venue under the current ownership of Lakewood resident Mike Schoder.

Flat People opened the festivities.

Flat People opened the festivities.

Schoder sat, listening to the band, beaming, and accepting the congratulatory handshakes and hugs of well-wishers.

"It's a blessing" to have made the venue work for four years, he said. "It proves that there are lovers of good music in Dallas."

Those lovers were there in droves, and they came in all sizes, shapes, and ages to enjoy local — heck, we'll let "local" include Denton and Austin, won't we? — bands Flat People, Dove Hunter, Black Joe Lewis, and Jonathan Tyler and The Northern Lights.

House photographer and Black White Read contributor Bill Ellison has agreed to pass along some more photos of the event, so watch these pages. End of story
