Dallas City Manager Mary Suhm put together a proposed operating budget for the city's 2008-09 fiscal year, and the total estimated operating expenses came out to $2.7 billion.
Residents who want to understand the proposed expenses and city income, and potential increases in city services or tax rates have that chance starting next week with meetings conducted by District 9 Councilman Sheffie Kadane.
The first public meeting takes place, in conjunction with District 14 Councilwoman Angels Hunt, at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 26 in the drama room of St. Thomas Aquinas School. The second, with Kadane only, occurs at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Winfrey Point.
In addition to information from city representatives, the meetings offer community members the chance to provide input on specific or general provisions included in the budget.
