Lakewood Elementary, where many of our youngest residents start their school careers, is a "Recognized" school, according to the Texas Education Agency. They are "recognized" for many other things as well, including the chess club, the math team, and a strong Talented and Gifted program.

Lakewood Elementary has always had strong parent involvement. Parents are active in the Destination ImagiNation program, the very active PTA, the Site-Based Decision Making Committee, and the Friends of Lakewood--a group of Lakewood dads who take on amazing projects for the school.

There is also the unique Lakewood Outdoor Learning Area (LOLA), the Science Integration program, choir, and student council. Soccer and basketball opportunities are available, as Lakewood coordinates with the local recreation center. The YMCA and the Lakewood After-School program provide two options for convenient after-school care.

It all starts here, and so many of our students carry fond memories of Lakewood Elementary with them for years.
